This group photograph of the Calvert’s 2nd Division Boat Crews came from my grandfather’s collection. He spoke kindly of all these men. Many of the exploits of this group are detailed in the Adventures of a Landing Craft Coxswain book.

Here is a slightly different photograph (and inscription on back) from the same day – Appreciation to Larry O’Connell, grandson of Frank Kubiak, for the photographs below and solving a big question I’ve had for many years: i.e., A firm date for the 2nd Division Boat Crew photograph.

I am not certain, but I think my Daddy is in this photo. Top Row, 4th from the left looks like Benjamin Laurence Hearne. He was from Chatham, Jackson Parish, Louisiana. His Navy photos are posted within this website. If anyone remembers him, or might be able to verify if this is him or not, I would appreciate that information. I have requested his Navy records, but have not received them yet.
The (PDF) version of the same photo is worded that John Zdanowicz is the 2nd from the left, with Sterling to his right. The person (noted incorrectly as John Z.) is actually my Grandfather, Seaman First -Class, Frank Kubiak from Chicago.
