Here is a Calvert ashtray that was posted for auction on Ebay a few times in early 2016. Please comment if you know anything about this Calvert artifact. The Calvert Marine Museum won this item and has added it to their USS Calvert collection.

I was TAD to SONAR school in Key West from late Sept. 65 until late Jan-early Feb 66. Spent time in OPs division as ET, RD, and finally as a RM in the end for the longest period of time aboard. The guys in the radio gang were a lot of fun. Remember first Navy Christmas and liberty in Da Nang. Didn’t see Bob Hope though. Spent 1 or 2 nights on the transit barge waiting to get back to the ship since landing/liberty boots couldn’t traverse the rough seas in the harbor and safely dock at the pier.
Yokosuka was the prettiest port in West PAC cruise that I saw during that winter. Liberty in San Fran was different then
All the guys in OPS were great.
Best wishes to all,
Tom
