2023 Reunion – October 5-8, Clifton Park (Saratoga), NY

Updated 8/25/2023, including event details and reservation form.

The Sira family will host the 2023 USS Calvert reunion October 5th – 8th at the Courtyard Albany Clifton Park Hotel in Clifton Park, NY, a suburb north of Albany, NY.

This is a peak time to see the fall foliage colors to tour the Saratoga Springs area and the reunion agenda includes tours of historical, military, and recreational sites. Also planned are special and unique meals, for registered attendees.

  • Air travelers can fly into the Albany Airport (ALB).
  • Hotel accommodations: Please note that the sofa in the King Room is a sofa bed, so the room will accommodate three persons. A complimentary breakfast is provided registered guests at the hotel and is included in the room rate of $149 per night.

This document contains research notes and historical content for the period January 1, 1944 to April 30, 1944.

During this period, the USS Calvert and crew:

  • January: Sailed from San Diego to the Hawaiian Islands, then to Kwajalein Atoll for assault landings at Roi-Namur.
  • February: Landed at Roi-Namur, and returned to the Hawaiian Islands
  • March: Participated in a series of exercises in the Hawaiian Islands to prepare for the invasion of Saipan and Tinian.
  • April: Underwent an overhaul in Pearl Harbor while the crew underwent training and enjoyed extended periods of liberty.
