About the U.S.S. Calvert Associates:
Hello I found a metal lighter that has inscribed J. L M. L USS CALVERT on it
Contact me on my email
I recently found a lighter from the USS Calvert dedicates to Benny from the Gunners Gang. I’d like to reunite the lighter to its owner or family members. Any help with this would be appreciated.
I would like to notify you of my Father’s passing. He always enjoyed attending the reunions.

I am very sorry to hear of your father’s recent passing. I will add his name to the 1950s crew list.

I am an American Legion volunteer service officer.,Post 149, Bremerton WA. I have been contacted to help Capt Charles M. McCarty, who is in the hospital with dementia. he remembers the name of his ship, USS Calvert. I need buddy statements, proof of service, and any connection to the time in service. sakirkpat@comcast.net, USNR-R YNC
I recently salvaged Higgins Boat 31-17 that served with USS Monrovia. ‘Sister Ship’ to the Calvert. I am seeking more information on this boat. According to a crew report it was sunk and salvaged at Tarawa. My Understanding is Sterling Funck was involved in salvaging the LCVP’s that sunk at Tarawa. If the family has any information or pictures relating to this I would appreciate hearing from them. James Dunsdon JPDunsdon@yahoo.com
